playing with make up

Halloween is huge here! And who doesn't love to play with make up and blood and scars at any available opportunity.

A quick (not so quick, more like rammed with desperate students on a last minute costume dash) trip to Walmart to buy one of each fake blood/face paint/gungey halloween packs and $30 later (!) meant we had plenty to play with!

A lot of black eyeshadow, red liner and lips and a deep set contour provided the base make up. This was followed my almost an hour of blood and temporary tattoo application which ended up looking so realistic that when we got to the bars I was asked twice if I had got in a knife fight.

Successful halloween night #1!

I'm leaving!!

Tomorrow I am moving in to this haven in Oxford, MS to start my term abroad.
As nervous as I am (see here), I'd like to think I'm just about ready for this next step. I hope to write a lot on my other blog so make sure you click here to see my latest post about setting off and read my future ramblings as and when things happen.

As I will be living in America, this also gives me unlimited access to American products so please please please recommend me things to pick up and try out to feature on here as well but I will be predominantly using http://eminthestates.blogspot.co.uk to share my adventures just so you know.

I'll see you in Mississippi, you know what I mean!

Hotty Toddy!!

M.I.A

yeah, so i've not been around for a while but I'll catch you up.

I went back to uni after easter having been on a brilliant Mediterranean cruise and was thrown straight back into the reality of lectures, revision and exams.
I sat my exams, meanwhile discovering that I now suffer with anxiety and panic attacks, but managed to just secure myself a grade average of a 2:1 which I am so pleased and surprised by!
In the midst of revision, I went to see One Direction at Wembley Stadium. An amazing night but I really struggled with my anxiety to put myself in such a huge crowd of people I don't know.

So yeah, I've mainly been learning to deal with having anxiety and passing my first year at uni.
I've been home from uni for just over two weeks now and I am really missing my uni life but in less than 4 weeks I fly to Tennessee to start my study abroad semester at the University of Mississippi which I am so excited about!

I started another blog where I will post all about my time there if you want to keep up with that you can check it out here.

Hope you've all been okay and are all about to go on lots of nice holidays all over the world. If you end up posting about your travels I'd love to read about them so tweet me @emilaaarblog or send me a comment.

speak to you soon, promise

Review: Makeover Essentials

I'd never heard of this brand before my birthday but I've now acquired quite a few bits from them which I'm reasonably impressed with.

The first is a small, predominantly eye foldaway eye palette which also has 4 lip gloss colours. As I'm not a major lip gloss wearer I haven't got much use out of these, but I do like the grey-black eyeshadow shade as a liner to thicken the appearance of my upper lashes.

This is like a bronze shimmer powder with a built in brush to distribute the product but again I haven't used this much because it's not something I would wear on a daily basis. However, I don't have anything else like this which is a plus.

Another foldaway palette. This has 5 glosses, 5 eyeshadows, highlight and contour colours and 3 blushes as well as mini brushes/applicators, a mini double ended lip/eye liner and a mini mascara which is really good for bottom lashes. I use this a lot and it's really good for travelling as it covers a lot of the basics and the shades are all very wearable.

Lastly I got a brush set with a small angled brush which I use to fill in my eyebrows, a small blending brush for eyeshadow, an eyeliner brush, a lip brush, a foundation brush and a big blush brush.
I like these and I really like the case which is the perfect size for travelling as it's not too big but fits all your essentials in so you never overpack.

Have you tried anything from Makeover Essentials?

Review: P.S. I love... Volumising Mascara

Okay, so it's been more than a while.... but my lifestyle at uni means I don't really get a chance to blog and revision season is upon us. Despite this, I couldn't not share this new find. That's right for just one measly pound at Primark you can pick up this Volumising mascara and let me tell you, you won't regret it.

So the formula is a tad clumpy/on the drier side but if this is applied carefully and so that it doesn't end up all around your face, well you can see the difference for yourself. The brush has bristles which I find grab and pull your lashes more than plastic wands, meaning a better coating and I particularly like the effect it has on my lower lashes. It doesn't last a lifetime when its on and will crumble a bit if you rub your eyes too much so don't do that, but for £1 I think it does what it says, volumise!! And lengthens nicely too!

Crazy selfie time...

Other make up I'm wearing:
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation
ME contour colour from their Beauty Diary kit (post on this brand to follow)
Rimmel Blush in 010 Santa Rose
and Rimmel Apocalips in 102 Nova- not worn this in ages!

Do like the Primark beauty range?
Thank you for your kind eyes on my blog, see you again soon!
